There was a power failure and the freezer lost power but immediately came back on. The following morning I check the freezer and it was defrosting., I removed thing and the area where the compressor is was very warm so I turn off the power let it cool down and turn it back on waited over an hour and it was hot again. So I let it stand over night and now it will not even start. is the compressor now fried or could it be something else. Never had a problem with it before.

If you have a meter, check for 115 volts to the compressor. If ok, is the compressor now cool, if so, you probably have a blown start device, or blown open compressor windings. Post results.
