Freezer not cold enough

Model Number: 596.57542790 Brand: Kenmore Age: 5 - 10 years

Appliance Parts from AppliancePartPros.com

Not sure if it is the defrost thermostat or not. Need to know how to check.

Open the freezer rear cover,get access to the evaporator.
If the coils are blocked with snow - most likely it is the defrost system problem. Using the multimeter check continuity at the defrost heater and defrost bi-metal thermostat.(The bi-metal must be ice cold when checked).
If there is no continuity - replace the open part.

The defrost timer Part number: R0131577

The bi-metal Part number: R0161088

The heater Part number: 12049801
