Model Number: GD25DFXFW02 Brand: Whirlpool Age: More than 10 years
The refrigerator stopped working this weekend when it tripped the GFCI outlet it was plugged into in the garage. Resetting the GFCI worked but then tripped when the compressor tried to turn on again. I plugged into a non GFCI outlet and the compressor would cycle for 7 seconds and then turn off for 1:45-2:00 minutes.
All fans are working and an ohm check indicates that the compressor is still OK. I replaced the compressor start device with part AP3083556 and installed it today. The same symptoms are still there. I am guessing the thermostat is the next possible culprit, but would like some confirmation that should be the next step. Thanks, Rick Ads By Google Related Models |

Hi Rick,
If the new start device did not fix the problem then most likely the compressor valve has more friction that it was before. You can try to use a start booster device which gives more starting power. It's pretty simple to install and it comes with the instructions. - The start booster Part number: AP4503017 Gene.

It sounds like the current relay may have failed or the compressor is seized. Is it very old? I think there is a relay kit available. Are you able to test the current draw? Gene, I agree with you. Is that hard start the 3 in 1 kit with the relay?

Yes, it is.
