My Ice Maker stopped making Ice about 6 months ago. In this time, it has suddenly made Ice about 3 or 4 different times. Also, the water dispenser started malfunctioning. It starts to dispense water, then a loud clicking sound starts and the water slows down to a dribble. This happens most of the time but not always.
I already changed the water filter. I checked the fill lines in the back. Pressure is fine, tubes all clear.
I am trying not to spend extra money on something that won't work. Does anyone think I should buy a new water switch? Or any other suggestions.

Gene, thanks for your input. I have something that just came up today. I got hold of the water filter bypass cap from a neighbor. The water dispenser is now working fine, still no ice. This was the second water filter I've used in six months, I doubt if I got two defective filters. Do you still think it would be the water inlet valve?

Make sure the water feeding tube into the ice maker is clean.

Swap the wires between the water inlet valve solenoids. Press the water dispenser lever for a few seconds and check if there is water in the ice maker.

If there is no water, replace the water inlet valve.

Hi Gene-
Thanks for your last reply. I assume you mean to swap the yellow and brown wire connectors on the switch. They are two different sizes, I was able to put the brown one on the other side because the metal contact is smaller. The yellow connector wouldn't fit on the other side since it is smaller than the contact.
I think I was able to rig it, so it would stay in place touching the contact. I didn't get any water out of the fountain. I assume I should now, almost definitely change the switch.

Hi Gary,

In order to make this test more reliable you can use an insulated pieces of wire for the connection.

Hi Gene-
I did the test, switching the wires. No water came out of the dispenser. I guess I need to buy the dual water valve.
I am curious what you think of this other reply I got from someone else, they said the clicking sound is the relay going bad on the "adaptive defrost control board". I am skepticle about this, since the clicking stopped when I took the filter off.???

Hi Gary,

I'm assuming you did mean "into the ice maker"? If this is correct, replace the water inlet valve.

Hi Gene -
I actually ment the water dispenser is what I checked. But I know no water went into the ice maker at the same time. As far as the other comment I told you about, it came from Appliance Parts Pros directly. I don't know why it didn't show up in this chain. Here is the link they sent me.
