My 18 month old Amana refrigerator has been unplugged for a few months during a kitchen renovation. When I plugged it back in the evaporator fan would not turn back on, so the freezer is nice and cold but the refer is warm even with no ice buildup on the coils.

I understand there are three parts to this system -
the fan,
the defrost thermostat and
a control board.

I'm relatively handy with a volt meter and electrical stuff - can you tell me how I could test to find out which part is not working and where the thermostat and control board are located?

Thanks!

Hi.

You need to check if there is 120VAC at the evaporator fan motor contacts. Check the voltage across the two motor lids while the fridge is running.
If you are getting 120V - replace the motor, if not - check all connections and plugs.
If everything OK - replace the defrost timer.

The motor Part number: W10189703
Part number: W10189703

The defrost timer Part number: 2314156
Part number: 2314156

Here are the breakdown diagrams and Replacement parts for Maytag A9RXNMFWB02 REFRIGERATOR | AppliancePartsPros.com

Good luck. Post the results.

Thanks for the help. The Fan had 118VAC but no action. Replaced the fan and all is working fine. I do find it interesting that this fridge only has one control for the entire unit - no separate adjustments for freezer and fridge, but it's running with a 0 degree freezer and 38 in the lower section so all good I guess.

Thanks again.
