It was in the defroster, it was icing up every 3 weeks and I had to manually defrost. I check the two thermistors and heating element. I hope its the control panel. This is how I removed it. I had no directions so was not as easy as I thought. I hope this makes the install easier for someone. How to remove the control module. 1. Unplug the refrigerator 2. Use a 1/4 socket driver to remove 4 screws holding plastic cover in place. 3. There is a thin plastic cover (not pictured) that covers the green board. Its held on with 3 Phillips screws. Remove it to get to the board. 4. The red circles on the picture are plugs you need to unplug to get the unit out. I had to use a screwdriver to pry some of the connectors loose like the ones on the light and the button for the light.. All the plastic connectors to the circuit board have a tab that you must press in order to unplug. Don’t just pull unless you have pressed the tab or it will never come out. 5. Once its out peel the push button covering off. The part that has the push buttons and temp control. Its just a thin sticker. I was able to use my fingernail to start it then it peeled off like a piece of tape. 6. The control board has to be slid out towards you like in the pictures. Use a flat blade screwdriver to pop it free. Just be careful and it will pop out. 7. The new control board will be flat. You have to bend it at a 45 degree. Can use the edge of the counter but I just did it free handed. It bent much easier than I expected. You will here the green board crack as there are areas on it that will break off when you bend it. Its suppose to do that. 8. Once you get the board out slide the new one in and snap it in place. 9. Put the included (from Appliance Pros) kitchenaid sticker over the front. 10. Replug in all the connections (I had someone hold it which made it much easier to plug it all back in and screw in place. 11. Cross fingers that it all works when you plug it back in. So far so good with mine. Ads By Google Related Models Last edited by RAJOD : 05-30-2012 at 10:24 PM. |
