I am having trouble with this unit shutting off one or twice per day.
Everything will run normally then I will hear it stop.
Open the fridge side and the led's on the control panel are dim.
Sometimes I can shut the unit off with the button on the panel and it will restart.
Sometimes I have to unplug it from the wall to get it back running.
Never a consistent thing.
When the comp kicks back on the leds brighten up and everything runs again.

Read a bunch about defrost timers and starter relays, Just need a place to start with this unit.

I stand ready with my Fluke Meter to start checking.

Edit: The condensor fan IS running. Compressor is making no strange noises.

Hi.

The defrost timer is incorporated in the control board. Most likely it's the problem, but there is also possibilities (very small one) that the defrost heater is shorted. In that case you need both the board and the heater to be replaced.

The defrost heater Part number: 2323198

is located behind the rear panel in the freezer.

The control board Part number: 8201528

is inside the control panel.

Thanks for the help.
I will check the heater coil to see if it is shorted.
As this is now an extra fridge I'm not sure the $200+ will be worth the repair to have another garage fridge.

If you can re-start it soon after it stops, you probably have a intermitent short in the compressor.

Not great news there.
Yes I can get it to restart after it shuts off.
The shutting off happens on no set interval.
If it is a compressor issue then why the dimming of the control board lights?

The control lights are dimming from the high compressor current, but not high enough to trip the breaker.
Verification would involve a monitor of the compressor current during this time.

I need to read the voltage at the compressor when its running and then read it again when it stops and the control lights are dim?
What should I be seeing?

You need an amprobe to check current.

I went to amprobes web site as it is a brand name. They have a multitude of testers from multi meters to LCR testers. In appliance repair "amprobe" might me a certain product.
Can you elaborate??
I would rather buy a tool than just throw parts at something that might not be worth it.
