Model Number: KSSS 48 Brand: Kitchen Aid Age: More than 10 years
The refrigerator and the freezer are not cooling. Yesterday, the tech replaced the defrost timer. There is some cooling but nother enough. The temperature in the freezer is just above freezing. The temperature in the refrigerator seems a little higher.

The given model number is incomplete, please check it.
Here is a good site with basic fridge troubleshooting info. http://www.applianceaid.com/frig.html First you have to determine if the compressor is running. You can usually hear and you should also be able to feel it vibrating. if it does not run then it is probably a control or temperature sensing problem. If it is running then it may be a sealed system or a defrost problem.

The complete Model number is KSSS48DBW00.
According to one technician, the compressor is running but not drwaing full current meaning there is a blockage in the system. According to him need to replace compressor, Evaporator and the Heat exchanger (which is not available). Does this make sense? |

You could have a blocked capillary line, or a bad compressor. Tech didn't confirm either one. Usually, only gauges would confirm. If the condenser is warm, you probably do not have a clogged capillary, just a bad compressor.
