Model Number: ars2663aw Brand: Amana Age: 5 - 10 years
Icemaker is not a perfect match for the old part. The "tub" on the side of the icemaker which holds the water fill tube is different between parts. The old part allowed the tub to go directly into the tub in a straight line. The new part has a port on the side. The hose kinks when I try to install it into the hold on the new part. I have investigated how to remove the tub on the old part and swap it out for the tub on the new part. I am afraid to try to remove the plastic parts from the metal parts for fear of damaging them. How can I make the 90 degree turn needed to feed the hose into the new ice maker? The part number on the box AppliancePartsPros sent me is D7824706Q. Thank you.

I can't see any part numbers on the ice maker because it is installed and I'm hoping I don't need to remove it again. What I did prior to installation was go to the hardware store and buy a 90 degree elbow. I had to cut part of the elbow off in order to make it fit thru the side opening properly, and the hose hooks to it in a snug manner. The ice maker now fills with water.
I turned on the water supply to the icemaker about 7 hours ago. It filled with water. As of a half hour ago no ice had been deposited into the bucket, and at least one of the cube compartments is filled with slushy water. I lowered the temperature control from 4 to 3 (on a scale of 1 thru 7) and hope this resolves the lack of production. Any other tips or ideas would be appreciated. Thank you, |

The problem you described with the new ice maker is very strange because it should fit exactly as the old one. I've seen a few times when manufacturer put a wrong part in a box. That's why I asked you for a numbers. I'm glad you found the way how to connect it.
The temperature inside the freezer for normal ice production suppose to be around 0°F. The best way is to measure it using a special refrigerator thermometer. Gene.
