The ice dispenser motor will not stop turning except when the freezer door is opened. I have unplugged the motor assembly in order to continue to use my fridge. The water dispenser continues to operate properly. I have replaced the solenoid in the door as well as the one on the motor assembly.

Hi.

Is the ice door opens when the auger motor runs?

Simon.

If I push on the lever where the cup goes... it initially opens and then shuts when the light goes off... but the motor runs continuously regardless of what I do on the outside of the door.

Hi.

Most likely there is a bad control board (located at the back of the refrigerator, covered with metal plate on the right).
Follow the instructions depends on the model and serial number.
The main control board Part number: WR55X10942
Part number: WR55X10942

The new control board is universal so ignore the extra connectors.

Here are the breakdown diagrams and Replacement parts for General Electric GSS25WSTASS Refrigerator | AppliancePartsPros.com

Thank you. Post the results.

Simon.
