Model Number: 106.74206402 Brand: Kenmore Age: 1 - 5 years
Got a Kenmore Elite cold spot fridge. top freezer. Model# 106.74206402 Problem: Freezer does not get cold enough to make ice, freeze meat etc. It does get cold enough to keep milk cold. Bottom get cool but not cold enough for milk. This thing is about 3- 3 1/2 years old. I cleaned out the coils (vacumed and then blew them out with a air compressor. Unplugged it for about 4 hours and tried it again. Same thing. The fan in the freezer does not come on. The coils have ice on them.I have read a ton of post and hate to repost a question that has already been asked but all the post I could find the fan was working. Mine tries to turn but doesn't. Any ideas? Thanks in advanced

Here is a tech sheet
http://www.servicematters.com/docs/w...%202314272.pdf Could be that your evaporator fan is shot. If the compressor and it's fan are running then the evaporator fan should also be running. If it does not run, then air is not pulled through the evaporator coils in the freezer and it will not cool properly. Also cold air will not be forced into the fresh food section. Best way to check is to remove the evaporator cover and check if you have voltage going to the fan. If yes and the fan does not rotate then the fan is shot. You could also remove the fan from the unit and bench test it with a line cord. Check the motor plate to be sure it is a 120 volt motor.
