Hi, New to the forums here. Been doing some reading here on and off for the last couple weeks. I have a issue with my ice maker not making ice as it should but rather randoly. Light blinks twice when I have the freezer door open. When I press the optic sensor lever down it still blinks twice. WHen I press the freezer light switch on the top it goes out along with the light which from what I've read the light going out is normal.

I've had the icemaker out yesterday, optic sensors out. Let all get to room temp. CLeaned the ice maker after carefully disassembling it. Put it all back in and it's made 3 loads of ice since noon yesterday with the freezer seting on high. I've cleaned the optic sensor numerous times. Didn't notice and electronic pieces that were noticeably bad either.

I'm guessing the optic sensor assy is bad? Is there a little part that's soldered on that's known to fail such as the little glass eye piece, etc that I can pickup at radio shack and solder in or perhaps pickup somewhere online? If I could get a schematic for the sensor assy maybe I could figure out what part is bad?

This has been going on for over a month and I'm tired of buying ice. If you're responding and your a parts dealer could you please either link your expedited shipping rates to zip code 57110 or provide a link for me to view in a private message if not allowed in the forum. From what I've seen the part ranges from $46 on one site to $85-87 on other sites and $120 per side locally quoted by my local parts house (dealer). I have a feeling the guy was thinking I needed 2 kits. Anyway if there's anything further I need to troubleshoot or test please feel free to let me know. Thanks for the assistance and keep up the great work goin g on here educating the DIY'er !!

Well I ordered it and just as I'm sitting down to type this response I just heard it dump the ice and cycle and fill with fresh water. Very odd I must say. About 10-15 min ago I was shaking everything around in there though also so it may have been that also.

I have a whirlpool side by side and the icemaker stopped producing ice. I believe what happened is someone set a box in the ice tray area and it was on the silver arm. When it tried to drop ice I think the arm pops up and couldnt. My son thinks the motor just prob burned out. Im thinking there has to be some sort of safety feature that just shuts it off. The dispenser in the door works, water works. Just not producing ice now. Suggestions of things to look for?

Hi.

Please provide the model number.
You may wont to raise the arm up and then put it down.If that not going to help most likely you are looking to replace the icemaker and I need a model number for that.

Simon.
