Model Number: ed25do Brand: Whirlpool Age: More than 10 years
Can someone please explain the sequence of operation for an ice maker?
Some questions I have are: -How does the proper amount of water fill the tray? Is it just a timed process from the timer (for example: the ice maker sends a signal to the water valve for 3 seconds)? -What signals the ice maker to go into harvest? -Are all the processes just timed or are there any thermistors or bi-metal switches? -How does the proper amount of water fill the tray?
Yes. it is a timed event. -What signals the ice maker to go into harvest? The mold (tray) thermostat (Bi-metal) closes when it reaches a certain temperature. -Are all the processes just timed or are there any thermistors or bi-metal switches? There is a thermostat and then switches on the motor cam. Here is a manual. http://appliancejunk.com/forums/inde...a=view;down=66
