Question Control Box Removal
Model Number: ED25TQXGW00   Brand: Whirlpool   Age: 5 - 10 years

How do I remove the control box and escutcheon plate so I can replace the thermostat?
Thermostat only works if you set it max or thump on it at lower settings. Whirlpool Refrigerator ED25TQXGW00.

Default Control Box Removal - Newer Whirlpool Refigerators

I was looking for the same answers last night and today discovered the answer. Provided your control box is the same as mine, there are four screw that have to be removed. The two hex screws on the inside of the fridge which you can see are obvious. The not so obvious are two screws behind the faceplate of the control box. See the following diagram.

Model ED25LFXGN00

Part number #3 is the screw on the left. There is another on the right hand side. In order to remove the face plate you have to pry it off from the top and work your way across the top edge. Then it will lift off. I have attached a couple of photos so you can see the back of the faceplate and the control box with the faceplate removed.

Hope this helps.

jeffp
Thanks for the help. The trick of removing the face plate from the top after removing the rear screws made the job a piece of cake.
Again, thanks for the help.
