Have a GE side by side model GSS20IEPJWW..have replaced water valve that was dripping...now replaced main board that was clearly blown..I think it needed defrosting before I started back up from main board replacement but didnt realize at the time.Yesterday it just would not pull down and I took evap cover off and found it a solid block of ice.I defrosted slowly with a fan and plugged back in.It ran great for a couple of hours more or less and froze ice in icemaker as well as getting down to about 35 degrees in fridge part then shut off.Now about 3 hrs later the unit(compressor) just started back up.Do you think I have a freezer side thermistor not sensing properly that kept the compressor off for such an excessive period?Do you have any idea what I should check given these symptoms? What could cause such an excessive delay in restart.Freezer is now dropping well and back to 29 and still going.I dont trust it tho and wonder if theres a thermistor or other compnent that controls the compressor cut in/cut out temperature? The compressor never seemed excessivly hot by the way so dont think it thermal overload.
