I have a leak coming from the right side of the ice maker. There is a frozen mound of water in the ice bin that slopes off the front right side of the ice maker unit. The bottom of the bin also has a sheet of ice across it. There is a series of icicles hanging from the back and middles of the shelves. I could hear the water running and at the same time there was spitting and popping from the lightbulb as water slpashed it. I turned the ice maker off and the water has stopped. What should I check or replace?

Thanks to this site I replaced the evaporator fan motor a couple of years back. I am now hearing a loud clunk coming from under the refridgerator when the motor or compressor shuts off. Any ideas on what the problem would be?
Is it an indication that the compressor is on it's way out?
I need to figure out whether it is worth fixing the ice maker.
Please let me know your thoughts.

The ice maker problem may be due to the water valve (Item 800A in Section 7) not closing all the way.
To check measure across it when it should be off. If there is 0 volts or low voltage then the valve needs replacing.

Is it an indication that the compressor is on it's way out?
Unfortunately, yes.

Pull the unit away from the wall and check the rubber mounts under the compressor.
If they are good.
Have another person move the thermostat so you can see the compressor shut off.
If the clunk is in the compressor then it is on it's last legs due to an internal mechanical problem.
I cannot say how long it will last as it can be a week could be even a year but you cannot trust it anymore.
Time to turn it into a beer fridge if you can use one.
