ice maker filler tube leaking before water reachs tray

when refrigerator is pumping water to the filler tube water is leaking before it reaches the ice tray and leaks down the back of the freezer tray. It is almost like the tube is too short to reach the ice tray. also it feels like small ice pieces are in the filler tube..please help
