Model Number: 795.79753.901 Brand: Kenmore Age: 1 - 5 years
I have a bottom freeze Kenmore with water and ice in door and noticed the flapper door for the ice shoot was not sealing and cold air was excaping. I pulled the ice maker dispenser front off and adjusted the spring for the ice shoot door tighter. This seems to be a band aid fix for that problem since its sealing now. What I did notice was the evaporator fan to circulate air inside runs constantly. I used a thermocouple to check the temps for the freeze and food storage and that seems correct or close. Thermostat on the freeze was 0F and thermocouple was -3F and the food storage was 37F and thermocouple was 36 to 39F.
Should the fan run constantly? When I open the fridge door it goes off, also I notice light frost (very light) on the food in the freezer. Thanks for any help. Ads By Google Related Models |

If the condensing fan motor is not running, put a portable fan in the back of the fridg, and re-check freezer and fridg temperatures after a period of time.

Sorry let me rewrite this:
The compressor and condensing fan will turn on and off as normal. When the thermostat is satified and box temps are at set point the compressor and condensing fan will turn off but the evaporator fan inside the fridge will continue to stay on circulating cold air. I dont remember the evap fan always staying on after the compressor and condenser fan shuts off. Is that normal or what can keep the condensing fan running circulating the air inside the fridge? Thanks |

You probably have a stuck relay on the power control board AP4671992 in the back of the fridg. If the fan stays on during defrost, it will heat up the freezer!
