Manufacturer number P1196704W W, Refrig - Bottom Freezer

I have the same problem as noted by others in the Thread Freezer is fine, refrigerator is too warm (see link below), and I have read the posts (OK, not all 555). I have followed the first part of the procedure suggested by Gene in the above noted Thread, but I did not hear any sizzling noise after the 10 to 15 minutes he suggests. I am wondering if the defrost timer is working, since it is a timer, if the knob (red knob on my model without a screwdriver slot) should be turning with time.

When the refrigerator is running, I was getting cold air blowing into the freezer compartment, but NONE in the refrigerator. After turning the defrost timer knob clockwise until it clicked, and waiting a total of about 45 minutes to see if I would ever hear the sizzling noise to which Gene refers, I again turned it clockwise until the unit began running again (the reason being I don't want to lose the contents of the freezer, too). I just checked the unit and it is now blowing cold air in both compartments???

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

I forgot to ask, how long is a normal defrost cycle. If it is my defrost timer that is bad, can I manually cycle the unit to prevent freeze up until I can get a new defrost timer installed?
