After years of good service my Maytag side-by-side now has problems maintaining correct temps. I noticed the temps in the frig and freezer getting too warm several weeks ago they remained too warm for over a week then cooled down till it was too cold for over a week.

With the controls pushed to max cold the temps while it was too warm
frig = +55 F freezer = +25 F and stayed there for almost two weeks

then it slowly went cold and with controls pushed to minimium cold
frig = +33 F freezer = -25 F and is still there after over a week.

Is there a single component that is supposed to control the temp if so I need the part # and info on where it is located and how to replace it.

At one time, you had a defrost problem, now, you may have a airflow problem. If there is a large diffence in the upper and lower fridg section temperatures, look for a partial ice clog in the damper assembly, or the lower fridg air return.
