I have a small freezer that runs fine and gets cold enough, but, it won't start unless I tap the temp control! Does this mean the temp control is faulty? Does it have to be replaced? (it's expensive) The relay is mounted on the compressor away from the control, so, it doesn't seem that tapping the control would have any effect on the relay leading me to believe that the relay is ok. Right? Hitting the temp control with just a flick of the finger starts the freezer. Do I have to replace the temp control? I don't have the model number with me, but, the control is made by electrolux.
Thanks for any advice you can give me.

Sounds like the temperature control is the culprit. What is the complete model number of the freezer?
Gene.

Hi Gene, Thanks for that. Of course, I'm trying to avoid spending all that money, so, what's wrong with this control that just a little flick with your finger makes it work? Is it something I can fix? If not it seems hardly worth putting money into this old freezer.
Richard

As far as I know they are not serviceable. You can try to play with electrical part of it, but do not disassemble the sensing parts.
