I have a Kenmore refridgerator with side-by-side freezer. Until now, I have had no issues with the unit. Recently though, my ice maker has stopped functioning. It is a very simple unit so I can't imagine the fix would be that complicated.
I have an ice storage tray that slides into 2 grooves in the freezer. In the back is the gear for the ice maker dispenser. On the upper left inside the ice maker, there is a wire guide that sticks out over the storage container. All that has to be done is: The guide needs to be pushed down, the door to the ice maker has to be shut, and the storage drawer has to be in it's slot. The water comes down a shute in the back of the ice maker and the ice empties into the storage unit. That's it......
However, now the unit does not work for some reason. The unit is not taking in water through the shute. I have checked the water valve and it is in the "on" position as always. I have tried to take the drawer out and slide it back in. I have taken the door off and replaced it correctly. Still no ice is being made. What else do I need to check or look at to get the unit working again?
ny suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you.
