Model Number: MQU1556AEW Brand: Maytag Age: 1 - 5 years
My frost free freezer keeps icing up in the bottom. The icing is cascading from the back of the freezer from an opening in the wall. Accumilates at the bottom and freezes.

Thank you for responding so quickly.
I took a closer look at the area where the water is coming out and it appears to be between the bottom of the back wall panel and the top of the bottom panel where it curves up and meets with the bottom of the back wall. I took pictures of the joint but I see I can't upload those photos. The opening appears to be a bad spot that possibly occurred during the molding of the bottom panel. It looks like the bottom lip of a smile, approximately 1/8" - 1/4" wide at the widest point. There are also openings at each corner of the bottom panel as well. I defrosted it two days ago and there is already a build up of ice in the bottom. |

If there is a through hole then there is nothing strange about ice build up inside.
Here are a simple instructions on how to upload pictures: No Voltage, No Gas, No igniter glow Gene.

Pictures of the openings at the seam of the back panel and botton panel are attached.
I looked at the back of my Maytag upright freezer and it is sealed where the seam is. Only opening access in the back is at the bottom. How do I get to the backside of the seam and seal the openings? And how do I seal the openings? |

Humm? I followed the instructions...
"Click on the "Quick Reply" button as you would normally do to create a post. Then click on the "Go Advanced" button right below the reply box. The Advanced menu has an "Attachment" button that can be used to attach and post a picture." Now, there was no "Quick Reply" just a "post reply". And no "Go Advanced" button. Under Additional Options there is a "Attach Files" section with a "Manage Attachments" button. I followed that and it showed that the photos were uploaded. I'll try again. |
