Hello,

So, recently, we have water exiting beneath the frig on the freezer side. There was also ice on the floor of the freezer. I suspect that the drain line is clogged. It is suggested in the manual I use a turkey baster filled with hot water and baking soda to unclog the drain. 2 cups worth.

Is the drain pan large enough to accommodate 2 cups of water? How does that amount of water evaporate, given that it does not empty into our sewer systyem?

You can see the drain pan underneath the fridge behind the kick panel would be the easiest way. But yes it is big enough to hold more than that amount. It is evaporated into the air by the heat generated by the compressor and condenser coils and assisted by the condenser fan blowing on it.

Thank you, woodchuckie, for your reply. Boy, I'll have to take another look behind the kick panel because I didn't see a drain pan when I was down there rooting around.

Thanks for reassuring me re: the capacity of the pan to hold 2 cups of water. And for explaining how that gets taken care of without tying in to the sewer pipes.

I used the water/baking soda solution with no initial result. I used a wire to gently probe the tube and that seemed to unclog it.

Thanks again for your post!
