Model Number: ED25LFXGW00 Brand: Whirlpool Age: 5 - 10 years
Hi, I have a Whirlpool Imperial Model ED25LFXGW00. It runs fine sometimes for a day or two, sometimes less, but once it stops cooling, I have to turn the thermostat switch to off, I hear it click, and then turn it back on and the unit starts back up. It gets nice and cold and within a few hours or sometimes a day or two, it stops again. The only way to restart is to turn the thermostat switch to off and then back on. I was looking at a parts web site and thought it might be one of the following parts (I don't know much about this, but just took a shot):
Thermostat assembly Overload and relay assembly Capacitor Parts are expensive, I am currently unemployed and I was hoping to get your thoughts on what might be the problem. Thank you so much for your time. Ads By Google Related Models |

Seems like a bad cold control AP3037004 You can try a non-residue contact cleaner available at Wall Mart. Just spray it while turning it off and on. You can also use WD-40 on it, the slight oil residue it leaves behind should not harm the electrical contacts. Just spray it into any slight opening in the control.

Hi Richappy. Tried the contract cleaner but still acting the same. Do you feel that the next best bet would be to replace that thermostat switch? I appreciate your thoughts on any other things I might try before replacing the part. Thanks, Russ
