PLEASE HELP!! Fridge & Freezer Not Cooling- Light Works
 This happened this moring, and I was able to move all the food into the fridge in the garage.
The light comes on in both the fridge and freezer, but they are not cooling at all. There is no "kick on" and then a hum like usual, and of course everythig melted in the freezer. I wanted to know what it was and see how much it was to repair. Can you help me please? Thank you!!:o |
Hi.
If the fan inside the freezer runs then your problem is most likely with the compressor start relay and overload. If nothing runs check the defrost timer, located top right in refrigerator by turning little shaft CW. The start relay kit Part number: AP3108472 The defrost timer kit Part number: AP3110896 Here is the breakdown diagrams for you refrigerator http://www.appliancepartspros.com/pa...model_id=50410 |
So when I get into the fridge this afternoon to take a look at my defrost timer, what exactly should I be looking for to indicate a problem? I can locate it without a problem, I think - I looked at the breakdown diagram. I just need to know what to be looking for, so I know if that's the problem or not.
Thank you so much! |
Hi.
All you need to do is to slowly turn defrost timer shaft CW for one full turn. If the fans and the compressor will come on - replace the defrost timer. Post the results. |
Did exactly as you instructed... Nothing happened. No fans or compressor noise at all. What should we do now?
|
The only thing left to check is cold control, located in the same area with defrost timer. Take the knobs off, pry out plastic insert and take out 4 - quoter inch screws. Unplug the refrigerator and jump 2 wires from the thermostat. plug in the refrigerator.
Post the result. |
"Jump two wires", what does this mean?
|
You will have to use a jumper wire to connect 2 leads from the cold control. (Jumper wire is a wire with stripped ends.) If the refrigerator start working - replace the cold control.
