Hi Martin,
Sorry for the delay. Temperature in the freezer looks pretty good, but the refrigerator is too warm. I would probably blame the damper control because with such temperature it should be completely open. - The damper control Part number: AP4077555 Gene. Ads By Google

Hi Gene,
Thank you for your post. In fact the damper IS fully open but no cold air is coming through it. I plan to take of the back of the freezer compartment to see if there is any ice build-up. This is an elimination process, and so far I see three possible causes : - defrost timer faulty - thermostat iced up and not working (but not sure if the refrigerator has a separate thermostat from the freezer) - evap fan motor failure I guess by the end of this process I will have a fairly good idea how Amana refrigerators work !!! Best regards Gene and thanks again for the interest you show in this case. Martin |

I have a similar problem, freezer working but frig a bit warm. Did notice that very little cold air is coming out of the damper in the frig, but plenty of cold air in the freezer, so the fan is working. I'm thinking the thermo controlled damper is not working, but hoe do you get the cover off to inspect. It looks like there are tabs on the side and bottom, not sure what I need to do to remove wothout braking it. Your help would be appreciated.
thanks tom |

Just to let you know it was the thermostat, which I eventually changed via Amana in Belgium after the French distributor went out of business.
It is a pity that US sites wont ship outside the USA, because parts are 3 times more expensive here and take 10 times longer to order. So thanks to all for their kind advice and all the best to you. |
