Default GE side by side very poor cooling
Model Number: 197D1071P036   Brand: GE   Age: 5 - 10 years

Appliance Parts from AppliancePartPros.com
This Fridge I was told working great, they turned off Wed and we picked it up on Sunday... Freezer will not drop lower than 40 Degrees / the fresh fridge side not much better than the room temp... You can hear it running but never makes it any lower temp... We moved it to new location by trailor only maximum 5 miles. It was stored( off ) in a garage only 4.5 days... We gave away the exact same fridge, only differance was the color. and it was only off for 1-2hrs max ...
delivered it 20 miles away and they have no problems what so ever ( it only needed the ice bucket to dispence)
We were told to wait at least 24 hours, its been well over 48 since it was pluged in..... and still nothing lower than 40 freez and .
Any Ideas how it could be working as told and gone to .... in a few days being off......

The fans are running but can you tell if the compressor seems to be running? Check that out and recheck that model number (what you gave seems more like the serial number) and we will try to help. Refrigerator repair guide

You are right the compressor was not coming on, I took wire connections loose, and re hooked at the compressor and as of 5 minutes ago compressor is on, It seems to have something to do with the wire connections under the little black cover attached to compressor . Do I need to replace the part there, if so what would the part be called
The only other number we could find is rs275 ..... Thanks for the help, I was about to trash the thing..... Steve

,

I was loooking at the book that came with fridge , would it be over load relay ? I will check and see how it does through the next few hours, I put cover back on and made compressor stop again, took it off pushed around on the connections and again it seems to be working fine,,( seems loose though) at least for now,,,,, Will keep you updated, Thanks for the help

Where are you getting the model from I will need it because I need to know if it is a model with the main board or mechanical controls. There should be a tag somewhere in or under the fresh food section. The number you are looking for should start with something like GSS2, TFX2, PSS2 something along those lines.

Looks like you are on the right track with the overload and relay. Check to see if the relay smells burnt also shake if it rattles needs to be replaced. Also before replacing the overload and relay make sure you clean the condenser coils very well. Good luck

It's Wed am here, it has been aprox, it has been aprox 12 hrs and it still seems to stick around 40 degrees in freezer section, fresh fridge side so warm never bothered to check the temp
Have looked every posable place for the model number, will get number off other fridge and get back, only difference is this has a culigan water filter, and slide temp controls in top back of Fresh fridge side...
The compressor seems a little hotter this am, but seems to be running...
Thanks for all the help, still hanging in there....

We can do without the model number. Is the compressor running continuously or is it cutting off before it gets cold? Look on the back of the refrigerator to see if it has a main board or not. The board (if it is there) should be behind a panel about a foot to two feet from the bottom.

Ok got the model number from the other fridge and hopefully right, only differance is the # is for a great working HotPoint Model#CSX25GRBB the one in question is exactly the same except has culligan water filter and is a G E ....Black instead of white, Oh, and of course the fact the old one works great and this one , Well, lets say a learning lesson
Thanks for all the help, I am now at the point of just need to know...
2hrs later, (still at 38 - 40 freezer degrees and still running...
