I have the same type of symptoms. I have an Amana top fridge with bottom freezer. Model is BX21VW.

I have noticed some frost on the inside of the back of the freezer.

However, looking thru the parts list, I did not see a defrost timer.

I'm guessing I need to pull the back panel off and see what it looks like.

Any ideas on this Amana? Parts seem to be made by Whirlpool.

Hi,

I have a Sears Coldspot 106-7660620 and I cannot find the diagrams. The problem is a defrost issue. I took it apart, saw the ice blockage and did the quick thaw with a hair dryer

Do you have the diagrams for this particular model?

Edit: Woke up this morning and the fridge is still only on 42F, maybe the problem is something
else?

Edit: Temp continued to fall and the fridge is well within optimum range now.

I have a similar concern. I have a GE fridge, bottom freezer around 10-20 degrees. fridge works fine. After reading through this thread I got GE to send me a motherboard, wr55x10656 (w/ instructions for wr55x10552, update for that board?) I installed the board, not cutting the thermistor and capacitor wire. The wire were not present on my fridge. Now the freezer is around 7-8 degrees (after 24 hours) and the fridge is about 3 degrees what i set it to be. Any ideas? there were some yellowish liquard/water underneath the condensor? after the new board it's dry. there's a fan blowing on it, so I'm assuming it's a condensor. I expect to see some moisture on an evaporator, but not a condensor? Any help? thank you.

*I understand the concept of automotive a/c systems so I have a question. If there's a freon leak, would it not affect the fridge side? and I'm assuming the freezer would continue to get warmer and not cool down due to low freon levels correct?

The defrost timer is #342 on the diagram. Looks like it's behind the bottom front grill.

Jeff,

The defrost timer in your refrigerator is incorporated in the ice maker.

If the continuity test for the defrost thermostat and the defrost heater would not show anything wrong then the ice maker has to be replaced.

What is the complete model number of the refrigerator?

oops, sorry its PFS22S1SBSS now the freezer is 4degrees, was up to 15 degrees. compressor and/or fan is on all day

The installation instructions for the new main control board says: "Eliminate thermistor wire in pin 2 of J1 connector." Then is says: "This step is only applicable for the following models: All bottom FREEZER models.".

According to your post:

I installed the board, not cutting the thermistor

you skip it. That's probably why it's not working properly.

thanks for the reply Gene, you are much appreciated on this site. i didn't cut any wire because there was nothing in that pin location. i unplug and replugged the fridge, got it down to 0, hope its ok
