I've been diagnosing my Kenmore Coldspot (106) issue for a couple days now and wonder if anyone here can help... This side-by-side unit is not getting cold in refrigerator compartment, and none of the lights are working (two in refrigerator compartment, and one in freezer) along with ice-maker will not churn. What I've determined so far...
- The compressor & fan are running and the evaporator coils are getting cold.
- The evaporator fan will turn ON when I manually advance the timer.
- The timer will automatically take itself out of defrost-mode, and start the compressor after awhile.
- If I disconnect the bottom (orange) wire on the thermostat, the evaporator fan will start, and will turn OFF when I push on the door switch.
- Turning the thermostat all the way down will turn OFF the compressor.
- I shorted the thermostat terminals, and the lights still will not turn ON.
Is there any test I can do to determine if there is a short somewhere in the unit? I've replaced the timer with no change in the unit. Any help would be greatly apprechiated! Thanks, Jason

If you have a very old fridg, they ran the evaporator fan motor in series with the defrost thermostat and heater. Probably one of these is open.
