Discovered my tray under the icemaker was completely full of frozen water. Items in the refrig were also frozen. I suspected that the freezer door had been ajar overnight. I thawed it out and now its working except I don't get ice cubes. I poured water into the icemaker tray, and it makes ice cubes. I think the input water line may be frozen or a valve isn't working, but my water dispenser works fine.
How do I remove the icemaker? How do I test the waterline? I have no service manual. Any suggestions appreciated. Ovid:confused:

Usually an ice maker that is built into the freezer above a refrigertor can be fixed by this.

In side the freezer at the back of the ice maker there should be a plastic, rubber or silicone pipe. This pipe comes in from the outside and fills the ice tray. It is not uncommon for this pipe to freeze.

Carefully point your hair dryer at this pipe and slowly defrost it.

If pouring water in it manually works this will usually fix it.
You can usually see the pipe that feeds the ice maker going up the back of the fridge.

Good luck.

Let us know how it works.:D

I usually pull the icemaker out and squirt hot water in the fill tube with a turkey baster, put the icemaker back and activate the icemaker water valve in the back for 6-9 seconds and make sure it fills the ice tray.

I never advise a home owner to pull out a ice maker. This has caused most of my 3,465 homeowners over the last 35 years to have more problems than it's worth. If it's frozen ten minutes with the hair dryer will defrost the frozen water. I have even it done it with the food in the freezer.
Just my 2cents

Most of the time, it is hard to blow air in the tube, icemaker in the way and sometimes the fill tube is not in the right place to completely fill the icemaker mold.

The suggestions I received are very good. I didn't remove the icemaker. I tried the hair drier, full blast for 20 minutes on the end of the icemaker adjoining the back of the freezer. It got quite warm, but no water. I couldn't see a tube or even feel one, but it surely would have been unfrozen. Tomorrow I will pull the refrig away from the wall and use the drier on the pipe or tube that goes up the back of the refrigerator. I'll let you know the results. Thanks again. Ovid:rolleyes:
