I just acquired this refrigerator unit. The refrig runs continuously; unit gets cold (freezer gets down to -20 and refrig to 20) before I unplugged the unit. Adjusting the cold control thermistat in the refrigerator does not seem to alter the temperature (except at "0" the unit shuts off). The compressor and fan seem to be running OK and the coils are clean. Any ideas as to what's wrong with the unit? Do I need to replaced the cold control thermistat?

Check out my post on the next page, you might try checking out the defrost timer........I thought it was the thermostat also until I was pointed in the right direction.
Good Luck.............

I checked out the post by Mark57 but the difference seems to be that adjusting my cold control up or down doesn't affect turning off the compressor (except when I turn the cold control to "0" - then it shuts off). I assume that "0" is the "off" position. Mark57's cold control seems to respond to adjustment. I also assume that if my refrigerator is colder (such as 20 degrees in the refrigerator part, [freezer -20 degrees]) than the setting on the cold control, the compressor would shut off. Is my logic wrong? With my cold control, "9" is the coldest setting, "1" is the warmest. I can set my cold control at "1" and after 4 hours the freezer temp is -20 and the refrigerator is 20 degrees but the compressor still keeps on running. Does this seem to indicate a non-functioning cold comtrol or is there another part that could be faulty? I haven't replaced the cold control yet. Thank you.
