Freezer keeps everything frozen but won't defrost, frig side won't get coolder than 50 degrees. I shut it off for 24 hrs. both sides worked fine for 48 hrs. then same thing again.

First you need to be sure you have a defrost problem. There is a picture here that shows what the evaporator coils will look like if there is a defrost problem.

Refrigerator Defrost Problem Diagnostics
