Our freezer is not cooling. There is power to the unit as the door light comes on. We accessed the evaporater fan motor, it spins freely, so it's not jammed up or anything. (It was replaced five years ago.)

there is no sound coming from the unit. Can't hear the comperssor or anything.

Where do we start to troubleshoot with the ohm meter?

Look for a defrost timer, probably in the back, probably not advancing out of defrost, just turn the knob till it runs. Order a new one from the number printed on it.

put in the new timer last night. followed instructions- it appears i have a continous run model. the wires going in are: Pink, Orange, White, black.
so, in put in the timer, advanced it out of defrost, and now hopefully tonight it will go into defrost mode and come out of if it, correct?

thanks.

If you hooked it up right it should allways advance, you can mark the housing and the knob to check later.
