Hi,
We have a model KSSC48FMS 03, serial number QU0516008 Kitchen Aid refrigerator/freezer, over the last month we have seen several strange things happening with the unit; the first thing we noticed was a beeping, upon investigation we found the display unit off, it did not appear that the on/off button had any affect but the beeping corresponded to the display cycling on & off, we removed power from the unit by unplugging from the outlet in an attempt to reset with no luck, it stayed that way for a few days and the temperature maintained normal settings of -5 & 35 degrees, then after about 3 – 4 days the display came back and all seemed to be OK. About a week after that we noticed the temperature in the refrigerator side varying from 35 to 41, it did that for about a week then we noticed that it was starting to make a noticeable motor or humming sound emanating from within the freezer section and the temperature was steady in the freezer at -5 and the refrigerator was still varying 35 – 41, now that noise is very loud and the temp in the refrigerator seems to be more on the 41 side but still occasionally will go to 35.
I have read several threads on the internet and it seems that the most likely problem is the main control board for this product but what I don’t know is if the noise in the freezer section is related or a separate problem all together. BTW the motor noise in the freezer has been varying in level lately and it seems when it is at its loudest is when the refrigerator is at 41 and when at its quietest or none it is at the desired set point of 35.
I am also noticing if I attempt to make a temperature set point the displays go off and when I release the button they come back on.
Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.
