Hello, my first post so bear with me. I was given this refrigerator by a friend. He tells me the fridge part turned to room temp and the freezer turned as cold as the refrigerator side. The freezer did not freeze. So he bought a new one and yesterday everything started working normal?? He told me a few years ago he had a service tech look at it cuz it had the same problem as now. He told me the tech replace some sort of switch, but he can't remember. Can anyone give me any advice? I would appreciate it very much

While it wasn't being used the ice on the evaporator could have melted it's self, then when it's used again it works because it's not iced up again. If it stops again check behind the back cover in the freezer to see if the coils are iced up again. Auto defrost problem.
