gsh25sgpa ss- Lose cooling in fridge first then freezer due to iced over coils. Think problem is thermostat ($12) vs. heater/bra ($55). Would like to test thermostat but this model does not have slip connectors that I can tell (runs up into harness plug). Can I just cut the wires, check, then reconnect or replace thermostat? Any other advice on specific troubleshooting/testing?

Have you tried forcing on the heater with a jumper or through the diagnostics? Do you have the temp control buttons on the front of the freezer door

Ideal temperatures are below 5 in the freezer and 41 in the fridg section.
To manually force defrost, remove the 3 pin power connector from the motherboard and place a jumper wire between the mating connector pins marked line and def on the motherboard. Plug in fridg, if it now defrosts, you have a bad motherboard, if not either a bad heater or defrost thermostat clipped to the top of the evaporator.
