Your model number would help diagnose the problem but generally-
Make sure the condenser fan near the compressor is running. Check the evaporator coils in the freezer(the shelves on some models). they should have a light frosting all over. A partial pattern indicates low freon. Too much ice will block the circulation of cold air. Fan in the freezer should be running. |

Kenmore Upright Freezer model 253.9284215, from what I can tell, and been told this is a sealed unit so it (can't) loss coolant, like I stated previously it has already been tapped into once for sure. Where can I find a diagram of the wiring-compressor-relay?
Thanks Again!!! The fan is on, I can hear it. I cannot see a fan any kind of coils from other forums this particular freezer is not a good choice. The sealed unit aspect puts a damper on working on the units, from what I've gathered so far I'm better of buying a new one. If I'm wrong and there is a fix to my problem please let me know. I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks!!!! Last edited by smith81 : 07-10-2009 at 04:36 PM. Reason: Add info |

Nearly all refrigerators and freezers are sealed systems. And they will loose their freon over time. Some don't .
The coils are in the bottom inside the freezer behind the back wall cover. The fan is also there but you know it's running. You have a auto defrost system that may have failed. check the coils. check defrost timer, defrost heater, defrost thermostat Refrigerator Repair Guide: How To Fix a Refrigerator - ACME HOW TO.com Your defrost system parts are shown here.http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/getSubComp.pd?modelNumber=2539284215&productCatego ryId=0142000&brandId=0582&modelName=UPRIGHT-FREEZER&diagramPageId=00003&componentDescription=S YSTEM&documentId=P0102002&backToLink=Return%20to%2 0Sub%20Components%20list |
