I have an upright kenmore freezer, at first it was freezing somewhat Example Most food was defrosting, put cup of water in middle shelf took 6 days to freeze. Now doesn't seem to be freezing at all. There is already a splice to add coolent, I dont have a gauge, nor now the correct amount. the compresser is VERY hot, cant hear any noise to indicate it is coming on. I've been told EVERYTHING, the auto defrost is staying on to the compresser is shot. It is extremlly hot, I HAVE $300 Worth of food in chests w/ dry ice would greatly appriciate any helps, tips anything. Live in Ft Worth Texas, ill pay to fix, but not to replace parts until we remeddy the problem PLEAE HELP ASAP.

Your model number would help diagnose the problem but generally-
Make sure the condenser fan near the compressor is running.
Check the evaporator coils in the freezer(the shelves on some models).
they should have a light frosting all over.
A partial pattern indicates low freon.
Too much ice will block the circulation of cold air.
Fan in the freezer should be running.

Kenmore Upright Freezer model 253.9284215, from what I can tell, and been told this is a sealed unit so it (can't) loss coolant, like I stated previously it has already been tapped into once for sure. Where can I find a diagram of the wiring-compressor-relay?

The fan is on, I can hear it. I cannot see a fan any kind of coils from other forums this particular freezer is not a good choice. The sealed unit aspect puts a damper on working on the units, from what I've gathered so far I'm better of buying a new one. If I'm wrong and there is a fix to my problem please let me know. I would greatly appreciate it.

Nearly all refrigerators and freezers are sealed systems. And they will loose their freon over time. Some don't .

The coils are in the bottom inside the freezer behind the back wall cover. The fan is also there but you know it's running.

You have a auto defrost system that may have failed. check the coils.

check defrost timer, defrost heater, defrost thermostat
