Hello,
My 2.5 yr old GE refridgerator is making steady hissing noise from the back. It freezes up the fruits and vegetables and even eggs. When I adjust the temp the water starts leaking. It has a dial that goes from 0-9 where 9 is the coldest.. I hv tried adjusting these settings but it doesn't make a difference. Plz help. Any suggestions are much appreciated. Thank u.

Your evaporator coils frost up in normal use and every eight hours or so the entire unit shuts down and the defrost heater comes on to melt the frost. The sound you here could be the water on the heater. This cycle last about 20 minutes. The melted frost drips into a drain pan and through a drain tube to the drain tray under the freezer/refrigerator where it's evaporated by the condenser fan.


The fridge gets its cold air from the freezer through a vent between the freezer and fridge.The fan in the freezer blows air through it. There is a flap you adjust with the fridge temp. control. Make sure it's opening and closing when you adjust the fridge temp .
