HELP!!!! My Standing Freezer has been turning off by itself and the low temperature warning light comes on. I reset the warning and select quick freeze to get it to freeze again. After a few days it quits and trips off the circuit breaker.
When I reset the circuit breaker the freezer trips it again. Please what do I do. Do I need a new compressor?

A model number may help others help you.

I cannot be sure but it does not sound like a bad compressor.
A bad compressor would trip the breaker more often.
Does it cycle on/off?

Try plugging it into a different outlet.
Could be a bad circuit breaker.
I am assuming the breaker you are referring to is in the electrical box and that it is a standard breaker not a GFI.

Would be a big help if you could catch it when it trips the breaker as it may have something to do with the defrost cycle if the unit has this.

Denman, thanks for your response.I tried to reset the main wall circuit (not GFI), and it causes the light in the room to blink and immeditely trips off the CB . I believe the CB is OK as well as the power outlet.

I would check the compressor and it's start device.
Here is a good link on how to do this.

If the compressor has a fan check that it is running.

Denman, when I plug in the freezer into the power outlet, it immediately trips the main wall circuit breaker. After about 9 attempts, I gave up.
