Model Number: 253.77879504 Brand: Sears Age: 1 - 5 years
I am not finding this model in the Database, however it is a simple, over under Frig/Freezer. The frig. starting getting warm, yesterday. I did notice some frost developing on the back/inside freezer wall, and withing the venting where the fan is supoosed to blow the cold air out. I unplugged the frig, emptied it out, dried everything out, disconnected the Ice-Maker, in order to pull the back panel off on the inside the freezer. Plugged the Refrig. back in, and coils immediatly begin to cool, however the fan attached to the panel I pulled away never starts, dispite all attempts to get to work. When I pulled the panel away, all wirring remains connected, except for the ice maker. Can I assuime my problem is just the fan(motor)? Is there something else that could be keeping the fan from coming on?

Your evaporator coils frost up in normal use and every eight hours or so the entire unit shuts down and the defrost heater comes on to melt the frost. This cycle last about 20 minutes but the frost should not be on the interior wall before it defrost. So you may have a defrost problem. The defrost parts are the
defrost timer, defrost heater, defrost thermostat. The fan may not run with the door open so hold the door switch in to see. The fan won't run when it's in the defrost cycle but neither will the compressor. Yes, thank you. There is only a door swith for the lower door, opening the refrigerator, and it remains closed. I guess my main question here is, If the compressor is running, the coils are cooling, the door swith is closed, etc., is there any other reason the fan might not be going on unless it is the problem?
