Model Number: FRS6L7EES Brand: Frigidaire Age: 1 - 5 years
the refrigerator isn't cooling but fezzer working ok. I read other similiar issues and heard it may be in the defrost heater or control. Is that something that should be covered under limited warranty of "cabinet liner and sealed system"? When I called in for a service call she said if it's not exactly one of those parts I will be required to pay for the service call and parts. They list compressor, condensor, evaporator, dryer and tubing.
Thanks! Related Models |

Well I just looked at it and the readings on the temp display are back to normal. It seems it's getting cooler again but I don't hear anything like a fan. I cancelled the service repair call since. Can you tell me what to look at to make sure it's ok?

The fridge gets its cold air from the freezer through a vent between the freezer and fridge. The fan in the freezer blows air through it. There is a flap you adjust with the fridge temp. control. Make sure it's open.
If the evaporator coils behind the back panel of the freezer are icing up because of auto defrost failure that will stop the circulation of cold air and eventually affect the freezer too. Your evaporator coils frost up in normal use and every eight hours or so the entire unit shuts down and the defrost heater comes on to melt the frost. This cycle last about 20 minutes. The melted frost drips into a drain pan and through a drain tube to the drain tray under the freezer/refrigerator where it's evaporated by the condenser fan. |
