Ice dispensor motor not shutting off
Model Number: FRS23HF5A Brand: Frigidaire Age: More than 10 years
My ice dispenser will not shut off! I went to get ice this morning, filled my cup, pulled it away and the ice continued to dispense. Even though the ice dispensing door is closed and the switch is not pushed in, the ice accumulates in the catch tray (funnel) and continues to dispense until I open the door which disengages the switch. I can depress and release the switch inside the freezer (door open/close switch) to start or stop the dispensing motor. Apparently the unit is sending the signal that the dispensing door is still activated.
Right now, I have disconnected the ice maker and the dispenser via the connector in the rear of the freezer. Any ideas on what my problem is? I've just started researching it, so the problem may be more obvious than I realize. I hope this is a quick fix as this was not on my to do list for today.
