Default How to install ice guide
Model Number: ED25PQXFW02   Brand: Whirlpool   Age: 5 - 10 years

I bought a new ice guide for the in door ice dispensor on my side by side Whirlpool. I can't figure out how to install the new guide. There is a main retainer clip on the front edge and two other clip farther back. I can't fell where they go. It looks like I have to force the guide up into position but it lacks 1/4" of clearing the front edge of the opening. Any help on installing the ice guide?

If you are talking about the white stripper (the part facing you when you look at it that the ice slides down), you need to remove the IM, take the cover off the module (3 screws) and then loosen the two recessed screws until the black housing allows the front of the guide to come out. If this isn't what you are talking about, include the item number from the parts diagram so we can better assist.

Default Ice guide installation: more information

Guide ice

Part Number: AP2988306 made by WHIRLPOOL

I am referring to the clear plastic ice guide that guides the ice like a chute into the water glass. I've included the part number above and link to the page on this site.

Model ED25PQXFW02

Oh now were on the same page. The two rear clips snap over the the ice lever. Open the door or lock the dispenser assembly so you don't get wet and press the ice lever back, reach behind it with your fingers and release the clips. Rotate the chute forward and you will need to flex the plastic of the chute and the dispenser front to get it out. Just be carefull and work slowly and it will come out. The new one goes back in in reverse order.
