On your model the solenoid that pulls the flap open sometimes will rust up from excessive moisture causing the flap not to close good.


  • To access the flap and solenoid and flap remove the dispenser control by prizing it off with a screwdriver from the bottom.
  • Then remove the housing by removing the four screws.

Once off you should see the solenoid and the flap.

You should see a crack under the control insert the screwdriver in the crack and prize gently. It shouldn’t take too much force to remove it but I have never damaged one removing it and have always removed them this way. A lot of times I won’t even use a screwdriver I will just pull it off by hand.

Thanks! We got it off and saw a crack in the plastic support piece for the flapper, so we just ordered the ice dispenser kit to fix this. This site has been extremely helpful and has hopefully saved us a lot of money.

Wait Tam4805 I see where you asked about a different brand I was talking about this brand and model yours may not come off like that.
