I have a 5 years old Electrolux Chest Freezer, a few months ago the freeze ( it never went on fast Freeze) and warning light would sound intermittently like every week , but did not effect its performance maintained a steady -18 deg C more recently the lights would flash on for 3 or 4 minutes and then the compressor motor would start and run for a short period and then 15 mins later the alarms would sound again, performance dropped slightly ie might drop to -17 deg C then come back to -18. I manually defrosted the Freezer, on restarting the lights flash nearly constantly and the motor doesn’t want to start it tries and may run for 10 seconds before cutting out, you can hear the motor trying to start but most of the time it doesn’t. Any idea what the problem might be and how to fix it. I am the UK the refrigerant is R 600a and the compressor is ZEM model HQY 80 AA cant find the serial number or the users manual with it on.

Thanks for any ideas or comments:confused:

Try checking the starter/overload relay. If it's ok I would suspect the compressor. You would need a qualified tech. Refrigerator Repair Guide: How To Fix a Refrigerator - ACME HOW TO.com
