Model Number: 106.56689501 Brand: Kenmore Age: 5 - 10 years
Looking to see if there is a way to force a manual defrost on this model. I have searched and searched with no luck. I think my heater is bad, just wanted to make another test before I replace it.

You have a calrod heater, rather rare they fail, but if it's burnt it's bad. Probably a bad defrost thermostat Ap4299920
You can force defrost, just go to www.applianceaid.com and you will get two methods, one will work.
