Acquired this refrigerator from my friend. It was working when he stored it in his garage over a year ago. Cleaned it out real well, using a lot of water. Let it dry for a day. Plugged it in and the GFCI circuit breaker popped. Let it dry for over three weeks. Plugged it in and it acted like it was going to run and it got cold. After checking it about 2-3 hours later, it had shut off again. Did something short out when cleaning it? Is it an easy fix? Thank you.

Try to plug it in a regular outlet.

You are welcome. The manufacturers do not recommend to plug refrigerators as well as most major appliances in a GFCI outlets.
