Model Number: GSS25LGMFBB Brand: GE Age: 5 - 10 years
This fridge was bought in 2003. I came home today and the ice was melted and everything is warm. Neighbors got free food.. I do not know where to begin. It is kicking on however the air in the freezer is just a little cool. The fridge, I don't even see where the air comes from???

Is the evaporator fan in the freezer running.
Below the evaporator fan is the evaporator coils. Remove the back cover in the freezer to observe the frost pattern. stopped up? clear? ice in one spot . frost everywhere. The fridge gets its cold air from the freezer through a vent between the freezer and fridge. The fan in the freezer blows air through it. There is a flap you adjust with the fridge temp. control. Make sure it's open. If the evaporator coils behind the back panel of the freezer are icing up because of auto defrost failure that will stop the circulation of cold air and eventually affect the freezer too. check defrost heater, defrost thermostat.Refrigerator Repair Guide: How To Fix a Refrigerator - ACME HOW TO.com If the heater and thermostat are ok it’ll be the control part 801 on diagram 9. woodchuckie Thank you for the reply. I started to take apart the back of the fridge and found a burn spot on the motherboard. Could this be the problem? If so, Do you have any suggestions on where to get the part? The fridge has no ice, no frost, no cool air any longer. just hot. Thank you for your assistance..

I can't be sure about weather or not the new motherboard will fix your problem. You can buy it at the previous link I posted.
I would check a few other things first. Is the compressor running? If not check the starter relay. If yes, is it warm etc. If not check compressor. If compressor is warm, is condenser fan near the compressor running. Since you have no cooling I suspect the compressor isn't working. |
