Approximately 7 year old Whirlpool Gold side-by-side is making a clicking noise whenever I open the refrigerator side door and stops about 60 seconds afterwards. If I open the door when the compressor is on, there is no clicking noise. If I tape the light switch down, the refrigerator is happy. Cooling is fine and there are no loud compressor noises. The lights dim during the clicking but removing the light bulbs does not prevent the clicking. I've read many responses as to which relay or part might be affected but I'm hoping someone might have a confident answer as to the cause and its solution. I'm handy with an ohmmeter if that is the next appropriate step.

Thanks for the reply, Gene. This board does not appear to have any surface mount technology components so it should be easy to repair. Do you know from past experience which component(s) need to be replaced, or have a troubleshooting schematic and guide?
Have soldering iron, will travel.

Probably one or more relays on the board have gone bad. There are no any diagrams and/or troubleshooting instructions for such repairs provided by the manufacturer.
Gene.
